MINI BALL WEEKLY LESSONS - Ages 4-6
The Perfect Mix of Skills and Play
Our 4-6-year-old lessons are specifically designed for younger attention spans and physical readiness. Each session is 1 hour long and follows an age-appropriate format to keep energy high:
- 45 Minutes of Specialized Drills: We focus on fun, skill-based games that teach the basics of the sport.
- 15 Minutes of Scrimmage: Every class ends with a game, allowing athletes to put their new skills into practice and experience the thrill of the sport.
Lowered Nets: We use facilities that accommodate younger players, ensuring they build confidence by seeing their hard work turn into baskets.
THE PHYSIOLOGICAL ADVANTAGE OF STARTING BASKETBALL BETWEEN 4-6
Starting basketball between the ages of 4 and 6 is the ultimate "Window" for development because children are uniquely primed to build lasting muscle memory and fundamental motor skills.
At Elite Camps, we use a carefully curated curriculum of fun-based progressive skill development. Our private facility allows us to use age-appropriate equipment, like nets that lower, to ensure these young athletes "lock in" correct form before bad habits can even start. By the time these children join the 7–9 year old group, they hold a massive advantage; while others are just learning to bounce the ball, our early starters have already hard-wired their coordination. This allows them to focus on advanced teamwork and strategy, making the transition to competitive environments seamless and natural.
Starting early helps your child build a powerful athletic identity that follows them everywhere they go. Since most GTA schoolyards feature basketball nets, having these "building blocks" of skill gives your child the confidence to be a leader on the playground rather than a spectator. They start identifying as "athletes" in gym class and among their peers, which fosters a positive self-image and a lifelong passion for staying active. By providing a fun, safe, and high-energy environment, we don't just teach them how to play a sport; we give them the confidence to lead on the court, in the classroom, and throughout their lives.
FAQ

If your child has the energy to run around and shows an interest in basketball, they are ready! Our program is specifically designed for younger attention spans. We don't expect them to have perfect focus or prior skills; we just ask that they come ready to have fun. Our 1-hour sessions are broken down into fun and engaging curriculum that consists of, 45-minute drills and a 15-minute scrimmage to keep them engaged the entire time.
In the world of athletic development, consistency is the ultimate "force multiplier." At ages 4–6, children are in a prime neurological phase where their brains are rapidly mapping movement. Registering for all three seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring) allows for compounding skill development that a single season simply cannot provide.
Here is how the continuous year-round approach "locks in" their advantage:
- The Compounding Effect: Much like learning to read, muscle memory requires repetition to stick. In the Fall, we introduce the mechanics; in the Winter, those mechanics become second nature; by Spring, your child isn't thinking about the ball anymore, they are looking at the rim and their teammates. Each season builds on the last, creating a "compound interest" of talent.
- Preventing "Skill Decay": When a child takes a 3-4 month break at this age, they often lose the fine motor "feel" for the ball. By staying enrolled, they avoid the "reset" phase and spend every session moving forward into new, more advanced skills rather than re-learning old ones.
- Permanent Muscle Memory: Our goal is to "hard-wire" correct form into their nervous system. By training through three consecutive seasons, we ensure that proper technique, like the flick of a wrist or a balanced stance, becomes a permanent part of their physical DNA.
- The Competitive Gap: By the time Spring concludes, a child who has trained year-round has a massive head start over peers who are just starting. They transition into the 7–9 year old group with "automated" skills, allowing them to focus on new skills and gameplay while others are still learning to handle the ball.
By committing to the full cycle, you aren't just signing them up for a class; you are giving them a permanent athletic foundation that will stay with them for life.
Absolutely. At ages 4-6, it is completely normal for children to get distracted or feel overwhelmed by a new environment. Our coaches use a fun-based progressive curriculum designed to pull them back into the action through play. We focus on creating a safe, high-energy space where "being out of it" occasionally is just part of the learning process.
Not at all! Basketball at this age isn't about stats; it’s about building an athletic identity. Some children take longer to "hard-wire" their coordination than others. Our use of lowered nets ensures that every child, regardless of their starting point, can experience the win of making a basket. This builds the confidence they need to keep playing and improving over time.
Every child hits their developmental milestones at a different pace. Some may have better natural balance today, while others may develop their hand-eye coordination next month. Our program uses specialized drills tailored to the physiological needs of this specific age group, ensuring that every child, regardless of where they start, develops the "building blocks" needed to become a leader on the playground and in gym class.
